Than's Birthday

I would like to say it was a high school thing, but unfortunately it only began in high school and continued well after. Than would come over and break/ruin/destroy things at our house. The sad thing is that it was never on purpose, so I couldn't be mad at him...he just never thought before he did anything. A few examples would be: wiping his pizza greasy hands on my curtains, rubbing yogurt into the carpet, and putting his otter pop on the hot halogen light "just to see what would happen". Once it shattered and we all sat there in the dark I think he figured out that perhaps that wasn't the best idea. So, this picture, well after high school, Than (and looks like Jana too) were at my mom's and Than is cleaning up another light bulb he broke. I can't remember the exact "accident", but we got smart and started making him clean all the messes.
"If I looked like this would you still be my friend?"
Yes, that is the direct quote I wrote on the back of this picture. To that we say, "Than, you did look like that and we were still your friend!"

How old is this picture??? Than and Ty having fun in Anika and Carrie's new fancy coats.

Who knows what we were doing. We were always having fun though.

As Ben says, "Only Than...". Well, this is another only Than story. Who else would go to a service project and end up wrestling with a random boy with Downs Syndrome in the parking lot? So, I think this was Ben's Eagle Scout project, painting at a local school. This little boy was just watching us all work and pretty soon as only Than does, starts talking to him and playing around. Before we know it this kid just started tackling Than and playing with him. The kid got so excited, Than was laughing too hard to get up and we all just stood there and laughed.
Happy Birthday Than. There were so many more pictures I wanted to put on here, but I think Katie has been stealing pictures again because some classics are missing: I really wanted to post the one where we're all standing there posted so nicely and you've got your pants down. I'll keep looking!!!

Angelee,

This is truly an honor, although terribly embarassing. I love the, "you did look like this and we were still your friends." We did have a ton of fun, I am sad we don't live closer but at least we have blogs to keep us together.

You are awesome thanks for keeping all these memories for us.

Love ya,

Than

Angelee, I am so impressed by your memory! And, Celeste is especially impressed by the picture of Than in the sparkly coat. She keeps asking to see the picture of "the boy by the hot (fireplace) in the coat." Guess Than really did look good.

That was hilarious. I'm just going to refer people to your blog for his birthday post. :)

Oh, I forgot one of the best Than stories ever...we were in the car and I told Than I needed to go to Wal-Mart. To that he replied, "oh good. I need to get some deodorant." So, we're in the aisle and he's smelling them all and finally decides on one...opens it and puts some on right there in the store. He had never planned on buying it. Turns out he did that often. Talk about class.

Um,i just realized that you tried to blame me for having that picture....first of all, I don't even know what picture you're talking about. And why would anyone even TAKE a picture of him w/his pants down? "Were you born in a barn?" :)
