i imagined...

our first family picture to be glorious. Perhaps in a field of purple flowers. A small F-stop so the background would be slightly blurred. All of us in white. Joshie and Charlee in their new Mexican clothes. Joshie would be on my lap with one of his priceless smiles and we would somehow capture Charlee at a rare moment with one of her gas smiles; cuddled in her dad's arms. The sun at the perfect angle where it made my hair look shiny. I would look thin and Nick's eyes would be open...

But, this is what we got instead.
On a day when Nick picked Joshua's clothes, on the sidewalk, Joshie didn't want anything to do with sitting still. On a day when Nick was dressed to stay home to watch the NFL draft and the kids (in that order :)) while I went out shopping with my mom. And, it looks like Nick doesn't even have his wedding ring on. Charlee is sleeping and hidden deep in her blankets. My mouth is open and my hair in my eyes in most all the pictures.
Still...I love it.

4 I've got something to say:

haha, at least you have a family picture - we still don't have one!

By the way... I'm totally going to make you a "My Uncle is Single" onesie. :) What's your favorite color?

It was great to see you. I wish I could have stayed longer, the trip was too short. You look great. The picture is so cute.

This is still cute, even if not what you imagined!

It makes better stories for later. Funnier memories :-)
