we're dirty.

my house is covered in dirt, mud, rocks and anything else that little boy (and that bigger boy) tracks in. nick was gone last night and I was on the phone talking to my mother and holding charlee, enjoying the nice warm breeze at our new patio table. soon i noticed joshua running back and forth, in and out of the house, with his little fists clinched against his chest. when i finally checked it out, i learned that he had been hauling handfuls of dirt into the house to put on his train table. At first I wanted to kill him because all day we've been vacuuming dirt, getting dirt out from under his nails and we had already given all the trains a bath 3 times that day, but then when nick and I noticed that the dump truck was filled with the pebbles he had picked out of the dirt... it was sorta cute and we just smiled and nick carried the table outside and I wiped it down...again."ca, ca"
Yes, it's a bird.
We have this conversation about every 30 seconds any time we're outside.
...and it never gets old.
This is a little boy's dream come true. A back yard filled with dirt. Not for long...sod is next on the agenda.

So, shom knows he isn't allowed in the dirt without his shoes on. So, he'll find the closest pair and go play. This is how I found him. Sitting in the middle of the yard with his dad's shoes on, playing trains. So cute.

4 I've got something to say:

that reminds me of Caleb, you better watch out next thing he will be burying the trains in the dirt and wont remember where they are when he wants to dig them up.
