BIG BOY BED!!!

Last night was a big transition in our house. We started the process of switching Shom from the baby room to his big boy room. We were prepared for a long night of putting him back in bed. Crying, fighting...the whole bit. Imagine our surprise when he put his head on the pillow, pulled his blanket up and waited for us to leave. Nick put the safety rail up and we moved all his blankets and pillows over and apparently that was all he needed. We kept waiting to hear the door open and little footsteps, but that didn't happen until 7:30 this morning.
It took me back to when he was 4 months old and we moved him into his own room. I didn't sleep well that night and I didn't sleep well last night. I kept listening for him. What a good boy we have. So, once he got up we all celebrated what a big boy he is and then we went to Denny's for happy face pancakes (his fav) as a big boy reward. He loved it and he thinks he is quite cool.
So...come nap time it didn't go quite as smoothly. There were some tears and one attempt to leave the room. I just scooped him up, kissed him, told him it was nap time and laid him back down. He cried for a few more minutes, but then he took a good 2.5 hour nap. Hopefully the fun of the new bed hasn't worn off yet and he goes down again tonight without a prob.
So...now that he is totally out of the baby room (there's no going back now) I can start making it a baby girl's room. I'm excited to start decorating. Nick is going to start the painting tonight. Hurray for me!!!
