while in san diego (our may trip, yes, it has taken a while to blog this) we turned our trip into a triple D (drive ins, diners and dives) tour. We talk about Guy Fieri around our house like he's our friend and Nick has to remind me that when I make references to triple D in public people do not know what I'm talking about. I can't imagine. We love the show....so much that I know guy doesn't like eggs and he likes a vinegar based bbq sauce. Am I weird? Sometimes we talk about how cool it would be to run into guy at a restaurant. I wish he'd come to Chico. Here's the beginning our our own tour (all in SD):
Studio Diner: my fave. so fun.
Next, a pizzeria. Luigi's. So good. Nice thin crust. Delish.
cheese and fresh tomatoes. I downed that in no time flat.
last but not least, El Indio Mexican Restaurant.
you can tell this was toward the end of the trip. I think we'd spent the day at the Wild Animal Park...nice and sweaty. I had a chicken chimichanga. I always get a chicken chimi. It was so good. And they had horchata on tap...how can it not get better than that?
So, there is a place in Truckee called Burger Me that I want to go to next time we meet Cyndi for lunch and the Squeeze Inn has opened a new location in Roseville. The cheese skirt looks so wonderful. Like nobby's but better. Here I am talking like I know, I don't know know, but I have a feeling. Guy wouldn't let me down. Guy always ends the show by getting back in his 1967 Chevy Camaro convertible and says, "now, was that a road trip or what?" I'm not usually a fan of tattoos or white spiky hair or lots of bling... but still.
last but not least, El Indio Mexican Restaurant.

7 I've got something to say:
did you see that your blog background is disappearing!?!? what's up with that? we watch that show, too, but it doesn't seem like as often as you do. we do watch occasionally and I always want to go to the places he goes. I'm going to be in SD next week, but after that, we should totally get together. I'm sure we'll be up there sometime or you could come down and check out our new hood. I just saw Katie r today. Bummer that she's moving. maybe i should go to that mexican restaurant while i'm down there. Is it in old town?
This is so exciting! I want to tell Cameron, because he will be so thrilled, but I also don't because he will be so jealous. I can't believe that you got to go to SO MANY of Guy's places! Lucky. I want that pizza.
Mmm. Fresh horchata is one of my favorite drinks. Whole Foods sells a really good one, it's not fresh, but it's pretty darn good. It's in the almond/rice milk aisle.
I am so jelous! We have the same obsession with Guy and DDD in our house, Jesse says we should all take a road trip with you guys and go on a Triple D tour (without kids) what do ya think??
What a fun idea to check them all out. I bet you ate so well. That sounds like a lot of fun!
Angelee, here is a fun fact for you. Nobby (the owner of Nobbys) brother owns the Squeeze Inn. Nobby opened Nobbys because the Squeeze Inn was so popular...
I love Triple D! I have to know, was the food as good as Guy makes it seem? Or is he just a really good salesman. We went to Moochie's in SLC and I really LOVED their Philly Cheesesteak. Mmmmm.
