distracted driver awareness month

I thought this would be an appropriate time to tell the story of the night I got pulled over. It wasn't that long ago. I scored exit exams all night and had to run to Raleys before the next day. I was driving, talking to my mom (*gasp*) on my phone. In my defense, it was on speaker...but still in my hand. So, I was on the Esplanade and I saw the lights whip on and pull out (from his hiding spot...of course). I wasn't going to hide the fact that I was on my phone so I left it on my leg. I kept waiting for him to come to my window. Although I've never really gotten pulled over, I've watched my fair share of COPS. So, I kept waiting for him on my side and when he tapped on my passenger side window...I screamed and jumped. He smiled. So, he told me that he pulled me over because my front headlight was out. I was so shocked. nervous. relieved. and embarrassed because there we sat on the Esplanade with the brightest lights in the world in my eyes. So, I said, "It is??? I didn't know that" Why I couldn't have just shut up at that point...why did I have to continue. It's because I'm my mother's daughter...that's why. So, I continued..."I THOUGHT IT WAS BECAUSE I WAS ON MY CELL PHONE". I actually said that. He laughed. He said, "Don't tell me that!" I deserve to be on that show of the stupidest criminals. I'm just like the kids that tag a building with their own name or the guy who answered the cell phone he just stole...good thing I don't live outside of the law...I don't think I'd be very good at it. So, I got a fix it ticket and he sent me on my way. I had that guilty, tingly in my checks feeling the whole time I drove. I wanted to be so mad at Nick because it was his car and every time I drive it it has no gas...and now I drove it and I'm the one who got a ticket. I couldn't be mad though. And then when I got to Raleys I was embarrassed all over again because I realized I still had my slippers on. anybody else notice how many cops there are out and about these days? I like to park in the red when I drop josh off at school...I'm afraid they won't like it as much as I do.

2 I've got something to say:
