five.

Josh turned five last week and he finally decided that he wanted an Iron man party. I made the cake, but I left the decorating part to Nick. He did a good job huh? His party wasn't until the weekend, but we couldn't let the day pass. So, we went to lunch, Sam took him to the movies, he got to go to Toys R Us to pick a toy and then off to pizza with the fam. It was a full day and let's just say...he wasn't his usual chipper early riser the next morning.
At school he got to wear this cool hat all day and he got to lead the class in a march (and in Kindergarten, that is a big deal). We took muffins to share with the class and he really wanted his teacher to read, "if you give a mouse a muffin". I sent it with him and explained that she may not have time...but of course she did. And he loved it.
Bowling. An Iron man bowling party to be specific. That's what he wanted. And he loved it. We only played one game...but believe me, it was enough. It probably took his ball a good 2 minutes to just make it down the lane...it'd knock over a pin or two and we'd all cheer and he'd dance. It was a success. I think his final score was like 52.
then back to our house for dinner, presents, cake, tattoos and of course the obligatory game of duck duck goose. Stephanie in living in Japan, but sent Josh a package earlier in the week. She had previously glued some of the pieces together because she knows how good we are with Lego's around here. It could have been the trip from Japan or Josh carrying the box around for a couple of days, but it was no longer put together. So, Nick had some fun putting it together and Charlee has had just as much fun taking it apart.
Isn't he just getting too big? He announced yesterday in protest of taking a nap, "Mom. I am five now. When I was four I needed a nap, but now that I'm five I don't need one". We'll see, but you're going to bed a whole lot earlier then!!!
At the age of five he won't wear shorts with a button. It has to be a snap or a clasp. He has pushed his step stool away from his bed. He is a champ at cleaning up the front room. He keeps his own water cup in the fridge so he can get his own water. He always wants to play with friends...or a video game. He is smart. He is always pointing out the word 'the'. His speech is coming along. When he gets excited we have to remind him to slow down and say it again...but we usually get it on the second try. Others in his class understand him too. That's what I was worried about. "get out of my spot" apparently is quite easy to understand at any level. He tries to be nice to his little annoying sister. Let's be honest...we are all trying to be nice to his little annoying sister. Sometimes it is hard. He is very excited about his mom having a new baby. He has started announcing it to random people so I guess I should too. He is tall. He'll take medicine with no problem but won't touch juice or chocolate milk with a ten foot pole. I love him to pieces. And I tell him that everyday.

11 I've got something to say:
