There are so many things I should be doing this Monday morning, but instead, I am taking a walk down memory lane via my old pic folders on the computer. Mondays are usually the day I get started on the weekend mess. I do laundry. I change sheets. I clean. And I should be in the shower getting ready since I'm going to the gym in about an hour. but no. here I sit. Nae is playing with the leap pad behind me and liam is in his bed refusing to be a baby that naps. at five months he decided to give up naps...that is NOT ok with me. we still battle. he usually wins. After all, I do love to hold him. Nick is gone this week. We are going to miss him. We are pretty busy though so hopefully it goes lickety split. We had a full weekend. Josh turned six on Saturday. He is so big. He had a friend party and a "big people" party as he called it. I tried explaining that simply saying a family party would do, but we are all pretty big too so I can't really argue with him. He kept saying, "this is the best birthday ever". In the morning his kid party was at miniature golf. We had 10 little kids there. It was fun. Then we went to his soccer game....where I think I got heat stroke....it was so hot. I feel bad for all those kids running around for an hour. I always want to go sit in the shade, but Nick likes to be right there in the middle so we can watch and cheer....I guess I do too, but the shade and a little breeze sounds so tempting. He was put in as goalie. Nick and I were both scared...I held my breath every time the ball got close. We got creamed (like 0-5 or is it 5-0....I never know) but nobody scored on Joshua!!!Hallelujah. I cheered so loud I woke Liam up and he screamed (but not the cheering type scream :) ) That night we went to grandma and grandpa smith's to have pizza and a swim party. of course we played duck duck goose (the designated petersen birthday party game) and josh has recently learned how to lead Simon says so we added that to the mix. it was a great night with family. it's always fun when my brother mike and his family comes from Sacramento. it was fun seeing them. Mike sat and fed Liam avocado...his new food to get him some healthy fats into his body (although he gained 3 pounds he is still in the 0 percentile...to which I say, "you're saying there isn't one baby his age smaller than him? that's hard to believe." anyway...besides everyone in our family having had some sort of sickness from stuffy nose to throwing up and a bit of the D word this weekend we are feeling well now. but now john and jo are home sick. pete is in town for his 45th class reunion (wow huh?). hopefully he doesn't get anything!!!
anyway, today eight years ago nick asked me to marry him. i found the pictures of our bench in salt lake city. I was too blonde and nick was too skinny. now I'm too gray and Nick isn't too skinny. I guess that's the way I want it. I'm really glad he puts up with me and I'm glad we still have a lot of fun together. He still makes me laugh.
1 I've got something to say:
You are so funny... i can hear your voice in your writing. Its hard to believe that you actually have a husband and 3 little children of your own. I wonder if that 4th one will be another boy... hmmmmmm
